 WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY

WRITING?

I'm currently writing a story for middle grade children about a curious, brave, smart little girl who solves mysteries with her pet Beagle. I always have an assortment of poems and fiction stories in various stages of completion. And I'm working on a cookbook focusing on my French Canadian upbringing.

WHAT IS YOUR MUST-HAVE WRITING TOOL & WHY?

First would be my laptop - it's where I do all my writing, thinking, organizing. Second would be my files - I know that sounds boring, but having my writing organized helps me to relax and encourages my creativity.

IF YOU COULD INVENT ANYTHING YOU WANTED, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Either self-cleaning glasses, or clothes that can sense an oncoming hot flash and respond accordingly. I think this one would make me rich.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE AUTHOR? IF YOU HAD 5 MINUTES WITH THEM, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

John Donne, Lorna Crozier, Margaret Atwood, Diana Gabaldon, Connie Willis - I can't pick just one. If I could spend any time with any of them I would just ask them to give me 5 minutes of their best advice.

I have been fortunate enough to have travelled a lot to many interesting places. I am currently exactly where I want to be and I am doing what I have always meant to and wanted to do.

IF YOU WERE TO WALK INTO A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE WHAT CAN YOU CONFIDENTLY SAY YOU DO BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE ROOM?

I'm good at putting people at ease and I'm excellent at detecting all the subtle undercurrents swirling like smoke around the room.

DO YOU HAVE A WRITING PARTNER?

My husband is my support system, on-the-spot beta reader, technical/computer guru, truth teller, and to whom I turn to for advice, guidance, hugs, and laughter.

WHAT IS THE MOST RANDOM THING YOU HAVE RESEARCHED FOR WRITING?

I know that leap year doesn't always happen every four years. For instance years that are divisible by 100 but not by 400, are not leap years (i.e. 1900 was not a leap year).

IF YOU HAD TO BE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERTED ISLAND, BUT ALL YOUR HUMAN NEEDS -- SUCH AS FOOD AND WATER -- WERE TAKEN CARE OF, WHAT TWO ITEMS WOULD YOU WANT TO HAVE WITH YOU?

As long as my husband is shipwrecked with me, the only other things I would want are my laptop and my e-reader (and maybe electricity to keep them charged).
